David Ortiz’s wrist injury appears to be serious. The Boston Herald is reporting that Ortiz has ligament damage and will need to be immobilized for a month. According to the Herald, season-ending surgery could be a real possibility for Big Papi.
Ortiz got off to a slow start this year, but had slugged .617 in May and had raised his season OPS+ to 124 and now this.
NESN is reporting that while the team has placed Ortiz on the DL with no timetable, but that surgery is unlikely according to the team.
